If a couple asked me to name a key element to tell their story, my response would be one word: access.

The concept is pretty simple; if I’m not in the room the photograph won’t happen. Which is why I always recommend giving us access to you for as much of the day as possible.

The most important concept when determining access is never underestimate the smallest of moments.

Big moments like your ceremony, first dance, and portraits are never going to be missed. So, when thinking of access don’t weigh those types of moments as heavily.

What I’d love to encourage you to think about are moments we cannot plan for. The moment when you and your bridesmaids are watching guests arrive. The moment your mom feels the weight of getting you into your dress. That gift you gave your grandmother before walking down the aisle. The emotions just after your ceremony. The moment you place the corsage on your grandmother’s wrist. Trying to hide and watch your flower girls walk down the aisle before you. The presence of your sister when you’re getting ready.

All these moments were impossible to plan and they each happened while we hung out and spent time with each couple in what would seem like the lulls during the day.

It’s that unpredictability that makes your wedding images different and special; and why having the opportunity to hang out with you, even during the slow times, is so important to telling the story of your wedding day.
