From the moment you wake up to the last song played, your wedding day will play out in ways you expected and in ways you didn’t expect.
I’m sure this comes as no surprise. But what I’d like to share is my perspective on the importance of embracing these unexpected moments.
In many ways the planning process is meant to take away the element of surprise. Rightfully so, we don’t want anything slipping through the cracks.
In that process we’re accounting for every minute of the day, adding predictability so we feel comfortable that no stone has been left unturned.
While that predictability eases our minds it can keep some of us from letting go during that built-in structure.
My advice to couples is this; it’s incredibly important to have an idea of how you react to structured timeframes and I encourage you to find that sweet spot with a healthy mix of predictability and spontaneity to drive your wedding day experience.
From my experience finding this balance leads to a far more memorable day for you…a day created by experiences, not a timeline. As a photographer, I see the images that come from spontaneity and they have the potential to be far more meaningful to you down the road.
So, as your build your timeline know there are powerful images waiting in moments between the bigger events of your day.
Here are a few images taken between the bigger moments.
For each of these images I could have stepped away to wait out the next ‘event’ that was suppose to happen…but what completes your story are moments like these.
Moments that are uniquely you.
Moments that weren’t suppose to happen.
Moments that come to you in flashes of emotion.
These are the moments between the moments.
