Photo Tip of the Month:
This is the first ever installment of my Photo Tip of the month! I’m really excited about this and hope to deliver information that will be helpful to you with not only choosing your wedding photographer but also help you think about other photo ideas surrounding your wedding day.

This month’s installment is about The Dress…a pretty important piece of the wedding puzzle.  =)
There are many things to consider when you’re choosing a dress. Style, fabric, color, price, designer…it’s a long list. But let’s look at this from a photo standpoint.

I have 3 points of advice on this subject.
The first point is actually from Courtney, owner of The White Flower Bridal Boutique. You’re going to be photographed 9 ways to Sunday in your gown (A LOT) by your photographer and everyone else who has a camera so it’s important to consider all angles of your dress. Do you have a nice detail on the front, back and profile as well? The last 2 brides I worked with (Jen and Becca) added small waist details to their dress to add a little somethin’-somethin’ and it worked beautifully.

Point 2-COMFORT. I can’t stress this enough! If you’re uncomfortable in your dress…weather it’s the fit, length, color…you’ll look and feel uncomfortable in your photos.  If you’re comfortable with all aspects of your gown and you feel beautiful, rock it out and you’ll feel great…and both the picture taking process and the end result will be awesome.  When you look back at your images in 1-5-10 years I hope you remember how great your day was, how fun it was to be a model for the day and not how uncomfortable you were in your dress.

Point 3-COLOR. I am of the belief that your complexion should compliment your gown color and vise-verse. From a photo standpoint the color of your gown should complement your skin tones and not detract the attention from YOU.  Your gown should complement you, your looks and your personality.  Ivory is awesome and very traditional, but would champaign work better for you?

Just some thoughts from a person who creates images…if you like or would like to add to what I’ve pointed out, let me know by leaving a comment.  I’d love to hear your thoughts!
