I’ve been experimenting a lot lately. In all facets of life…experimenting with new equipment, different compositions, new expectations of my work, myself…the way I see my future…and snack food.
Stay with me…sounds bizarre, I know.
Yesterday afternoon I was staring at my refrigerator…unfortunately I’m wasting electricity because it’s cooling a whole lot of nothing. I’m a Trader Joe’s fiend but I hate shopping there, or better yet playing bumper carts and waiting a half life in line just to get groceries. Needless to say I’ve been lacking motivation to get some shopping done.
So, in the fridge…less than a quarter of the half gallon almond milk, a nearly empty bag of spinach, peanut butter, jack cheese and a bunch of random condiments…all options were much to the chagrin of my stomach or any craving my taste buds were searching for.
After a good 3 minutes of staring at nothing…don’t judge, you know you’ve done it too…I slowly moved to the equally bare cabinet. After a quick glance it hit me…I have peanut butter and there are dried cranberries staring right at me. That has to be good, right??
Well, it was quite tasty and a worthy experiment to fulfill a craving. I hadn’t thought about that combination before, but I’ll for sure snack on it again. It may be a familiar combination of fruit and PB but for some reason it was a stretch without the bread and a jar of jam to create the infamous PB&J. And I’m sure the majority of you will find my new concoction frighting and think I’m certifiably crazy. That’s okay.
Because the next time I’m stumped, feeling a little creativity block, looking for a new composition or need to look at something in a different light…I’m going to take stock in what I have and put cranberries on the peanut butter and figure it out.
