There’s something about it, the black and white image, that makes me stop in my tracks.

Maybe we don’t see enough black and white’s these days. Maybe the absence of color is actual gravity, a vortex, that draws me in.

One thing I know for sure, the black and white image holds a timelessness in its DNA that’s incomparable.

And as we photographed Kate and Conner’s wedding, on a perfectly overcast day in Del Mar, the emotions started to flow. The moments became more palpable and being present to the feelings around us became intensely real.

This is why I decided to present their wedding here entirely in black and white. The classic venue, Kate’s timeless dress. The look on Conner’s face when he sees his bride walk down the aisle. As a whole, the feelings of the day feel more intense. That absence of color helped us tell a story with no distractions.

Nothing to avert the eye.
